A familiar estate in search of elegance under the guidance of the Gaffory family
Château Gigault has been owned by the Gaffory family since 1963. Today, the fourth generation is represented by Julien Gaffory, cellar master and manager, and his sister Clara Gaffory, oenologist, who work with consultant Nicolas Joly, a specialist in plot-based cultivation. Together, they strive to reveal the finesse of the terroir by combining technical rigor and contemporary sensitivity.

Terroir & grape varieties: limestone and lush precision
The 15-hectare vineyard is located on clay-limestone and silty soils, on slopes exposed both north and south of Saint-Émilion. The composition is dominated by Merlot (~80%), softened and structured by Cabernet Franc (~20%).

Viticulture & philosophy: integrity, plot selection
Sustainable viticulture combining grass cover, natural composts, and manual harvesting. Each plot is harvested separately to express its specificities. The estate aims for a sustainable approach with a long-term vision.

Vinification & aging: terroir expression and fine balance
Plot-based vinification in thermo-regulated concrete and stainless steel vats, with macerations of 3 to 4 weeks. Aging for 16 to 18 months in French barrels (≈50% new), seeking elegance, supple texture, and the mineral reflection of the terroir.

Iconic cuvées
Château Gigault (Grand Vin): structured wine, aromas of plum, violet, graphite, and sweet spices. Fine tannins, harmony of density and salinity, persistent finish.
Cuvée Clara: modern tribute, pure Merlot vinified separately for velvety texture, fresh fruit, and floral bouquet.
