Domaine Laffont – At the Crossroads of Robust Madiran and Committed Organic Viticulture


Located in Maumusson-Laguian, in the Occitan Gers, Domaine Laffont covers about 12 hectares of vines spread over well-exposed hillsides. The estate is centered on the red Tannat (about 80%), complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as on Petit Manseng for its dry and sweet white wines typical of Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh. All plots have been managed under certified organic farming for several years, with a focus on soil respect and the enhancement of local grape varieties.


The harvest is done by hand in crates, tailored according to the plots and ripeness. The winemaking is simple and natural: fermentations in stainless steel tanks without added yeasts, macerations adapted according to the cuvées, and aging in stainless steel or old barrels for the Hécate cuvée, with moderate use of sulfur at the end of winemaking.


The style of Laffont's red wines is structured and generous, typical of modern Madiran: assertive tannins, ripe fruit (blackcurrant, spices), relative freshness brought by Cabernet Franc. The Erigone and Hécate cuvées embody this balance between power and finesse, combining tannic density and frank expression.


The white wines made from Petit Manseng offer clear aromatic profiles: white fruits, citrus, marked acidity, whether they are dry or sweet (Pacherenc). They embody a controlled Mediterranean freshness.




Iconic Cuvées





  • Madiran Erigone: typical blend of Tannat (≈80%) and Cabernet Franc / Sauvignon. Tight tannins, spicy black fruit, long and structured finish. Great aging potential.




  • Madiran Hécate: from a selection of riper Tannat, aged in old barrels. Aromatic depth on black fruits, spices, and coffee, silky yet powerful tannins.




  • Madiran Tradition: more accessible wine when young, fruity and tender, supple structure, good balance between suppleness and character.




  • Pacherenc Sec / Doux: white wine from Petit Manseng, available in dry or sweet versions, nectarine, candied citrus, fresh acidity, balance between indulgence and liveliness.
