A jewel of elegance and spirituality in the heart of Graves
Anchored in the spirit of the Discalced Carmelites since the 17th century, Château les Carmes-Haut-Brion embodies a deep harmony between history, rigor, and sensory expression. An independent estate since 1961, it is currently led by Thomas Duroux (owner and oenologist), supported by Jérôme Cazel (technical director) and Sophie Lancray (production director), all committed to biodynamic viticulture and precise winemaking.
Terroir & grape varieties
The estate covers approximately 8 hectares of Garonne gravel mixed with clay lenses. The grape varieties are typically Bordeaux: Cabernet Sauvignon (~55%), Merlot (~40%), and Petit Verdot (~5%), reflecting the richness and complexity of the Graves terroir.
Philosophy & practices
Certified biodynamic viticulture, parcel work, natural grassing, and manual harvesting followed by demanding sorting. The vinifications are done in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, with gentle extraction. The aging lasts 16 to 18 months in French barrels (≈ 50% new), offering aromatic precision, silky texture, and mineral elegance.
Iconic cuvées

Chapelle des Carmes: second wine from young vines, more indulgent, fruity, and accessible, while retaining the estate's signature.
