Refined virility, tannic velvet, and deep expression

Mythical cru of Pomerol, Château Trotanoy extends over approximately 7 hectares of ash-colored sandy-gravel soils, tinged with iron. This small estate, managed with an extreme focus on quality, embodies a rare concentration, sensory balance, and immediate elegance without ostentation.

Terroir & grape varieties

The complex soils, a mix of gravel, sand, and brown humus, ensure optimal maturity and a pronounced mineral framework. The grape composition combines ≈85% Merlot, ≈15% Cabernet Franc, enhancing the depth and finesse of the whole.

Viticulture & winemaking

Meticulous cultivation, manual harvesting only. Traditional vinification, controlled macerations to capture a silky structure. Aging for 18 to 20 months in French barrels (~70% new), allowing perfect wood integration and a rich texture.

Style & aging

The wine is distinguished by a brilliant black color, a complex bouquet of blackberry, truffle, cedar, and licorice. On the palate, ample breath, velvety tannins, and a deep saline finish. Protected from its early years, it will reveal all its brilliance between 10 and 40 years.

Iconic cuvées

  • Château Trotanoy: the grand wine, rare and profound, the flagship of the estate.

  • Les Mandelots: elegant second wine, more accessible, retaining the Trotanoy signature.
