In the Loire Valley, at the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation, the Domaine Didier Dagueneau has risen to the rank of a global icon. An uncompromising visionary, Didier Dagueneau redefined the contours of Sauvignon blanc, leading it to heights of purity, density, and verticality. Today, his son Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau continues this legacy with the same extreme demand, crafting wines of sculptural minerality and rare emotional intensity.
Coming from a family of winemakers, Didier Dagueneau stood out from the 1980s by his desire to produce the best Sauvignon blanc in the world. Through his intuitive approach, radically qualitative and deeply respectful of the terroir, he elevated Pouilly-Fumé to a level previously unmatched.
The estate spans nearly 12 hectares, worked in biodynamic culture, on the finest hillsides of Saint-Andelain. Flint clays, Kimmeridgian marls, caillottes: each plot is vinified separately to reveal the mineral identity of each soil.
The wines of the estate are immediately recognizable: straight line, precise texture, saline energy. These are timeless Sauvignon blancs, capable of aging with nobility. No makeup, no compromise, just the truth of the place and the vintage.
Silex: sharp minerality, breadth, impressive length.
Pur Sang: racy finesse, vibrant elegance.
Buisson Renard: chalky texture, delicate tension.
Blanc Fumé de Pouilly: the most direct expression of the terroir, chiseled and clear.
The estate practices extremely rigorous viticulture, with very low yields, horse plowing, manual harvesting. The vinifications are done in oak barrels (mostly Stockinger), with minimal intervention, without yeast addition, without fining. The long aging on fine lees gives the wines depth, balance, and verticality.
