An island revolution born from the land

Founded in 1994 on the island of Mallorca, the Ànima Negra estate quickly became the international ambassador of Mallorcan terroir wines. At the origin of this adventure, two friends — Miquel Àngel Cerdà and Pere Obrador — decided to transform an old wine farm into a visionary project: to produce great island wines from forgotten native grape varieties, without compromise or artifice.

The name "Ànima Negra" — the black soul — is a nod to the deep identity of the soils and the raw sincerity of the wines born there.

A unique terroir in the heart of the Mediterranean

Located near Felanitx, in the southeast of the island, the estate benefits from a dry and bright microclimate, ventilated by the sea breezes. The limestone and clay-iron soils, sometimes scattered with stones, give the wines a nervous structure, a delicate salinity, and a great mineral transparency.

The vines, sometimes centuries-old, are cultivated without irrigation, in total respect of the natural cycle, on about 40 hectares, mostly cultivated in biodynamics without certification.

Native grape varieties and a strong identity

The estate focuses on almost extinct endemic grape varieties:

  • Callet (main grape variety): finesse, tension, tangy red fruit

  • Mantonegro: depth, warmth, spicy notes

  • Fogoneu: lightness, freshness, aromatic

  • Sometimes complemented by a hint of Syrah or Cabernet Sauvignon, but always in support, never in domination.

An extraordinary style, between Burgundian finesse and Mediterranean warmth

The wines of Ànima Negra are distinguished by their airy texture, their mineral vibration, and an astonishing aromatic complexity. Here, no over-extraction, no heaviness: the power is contained, elegant, always guided by balance and emotion.

Intuitive and artisanal winemaking

  • Manual harvesting, drastic selections

  • Natural fermentations, in concrete or stainless steel tanks

  • Long but gentle macerations

  • Aging in foudres, used barrels, or amphorae, depending on the cuvées

  • Limited sulfur, no harsh filtration

Each wine is a free interpretation of the vintage, with a fine reading of the place and a refusal of industrial standards.

Iconic cuvées

  • ÀN/Ànima Negra: flagship wine of the estate, 90% Callet, long aging in foudres. Elegance, length, breed. A pure and intense Mediterranean red.

  • Son Negre: rare, powerful, and deep cuvée, produced in ultra-limited quantities. A wine for meditation.

  • ÀN/2: the introduction to the house style, accessible, gourmet, lively.

  • Quíbia: dry white blend based on Premsal Blanc, Callet blanc, and Giro Ros. Salinity, noble bitterness, great drinkability.
