Founded in 1972, Bodegas LAN takes its name from the three provinces of Rioja: Logroño (La Rioja), Álava, and Navarra. From the beginning, the winery has placed technical precision and parcel work at the heart of its approach, becoming one of the most respected and modern estates in the region.
Now led by the winemaker María Barúa, a discreet yet influential figure in contemporary Rioja, LAN combines experience, innovation, and attention to detail to produce expressive, balanced wines that remain true to the typicity of Tempranillo. The estate is also committed to sustainability, with a particular focus on biodiversity and soil preservation.
Terroir & vinification
LAN owns its own vineyard, the Viñedo Viña Lanciano, an exceptional site of 72 hectares located in a bend of the Ebro, with alluvial and gravelly soils. This mosaic of terroirs allows for an advanced parcel selection, offering complex expressions of Tempranillo, Mazuelo, or Graciano.
The vinifications blend tradition (concrete vats, indigenous yeasts) and technology (precise temperature control). LAN is also recognized for its expertise in aging, using a unique combination of hybrid barrels (French and American oak) to achieve subtle, perfectly integrated woodiness.
