A charming place combining tradition and ambition under family leadership
Château La Providence is a family estate owned and modernized by the Martin couple, with Thomas Martin leading the vineyard and Julie Martin, their daughter, as the oenologist. Together, they cultivate a balance between traditional approach and innovation, to fully express the gravel-limestone terroir of the region.
Terroir & grape varieties: fine gravel finesse and balanced blend
The vineyard covers about 12 ha of Garonne gravel on limestone subsoil. The grape composition is as follows: Cabernet Sauvignon (~55%), Merlot (~35%), Cabernet Franc (~7%) and Petit Verdot (~3%), offering elegance, tension, and structure.
Viticulture & philosophy: precision, care, and natural expression
Sustainable viticulture, soil work, controlled grassing, and manual harvesting. There is rigorous sorting in the vineyard and cellar, to ensure the most natural and precise expression of the terroir, while minimizing inputs.
Vinification & aging: balanced woodiness and pure fruit
Separate vinifications by grape variety and plot in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, with macerations of 3 to 4 weeks. Aging for 14 to 16 months in French barrels (≈ 40% new), to provide structure without overwhelming the fruity and mineral freshness.
