A mythical terroir in miniature
The vineyard, composed exclusively of Merlot, rests on clay-gravel soil with a subsoil rich in iron deposits. This rare composition gives the wine depth, minerality, and longevity. The old vines, aged 35 to 50 years, express remarkable density.
Style: purity, tension, silkiness
Clos Payrol delivers a refined and precise Pomerol, with melted tannins and a velvety mouthfeel. The aromas evoke black cherry, cocoa, truffle, and blond tobacco, with a persistent and elegant finish. It is a wine that captivates as much by its intensity as by its restraint.
Emblematic cuvée
The only cuvée of the estate, Clos Payrol is 100% Merlot, produced from very low yields (about 35 hl/ha). Carefully aged in barrels, it embodies a sincere and artisanal expression of the Pomerol terroir.
