Multicontinental history, high-altitude terroirs, and sensitive viticulture

Anchored north of Béziers on 60 hectares, Clos Bagatelle is an estate steeped in history, cultivated for nearly 400 years. Today managed by Christine & Luc – the last link in a five-generation lineage – it combines family tradition and modernity on clay-limestone, pebble, and white gravel terroirs.

Terroir & grape varieties

The vines are spread over four distinct terroirs: the deep valley, the scrubland, the foothills at 250 m, and a pebble plateau dedicated to Muscat Petit Grain. The reds combine Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre, complemented in white by Roussanne, Grenache blanc, Vermentino, Muscat, Viognier, Chenin, Petit Manseng.

Viticulture & winemaking

Sustainable viticulture with 100% manual harvesting and parcel selection. Fermentations are natural, in concrete or stainless steel tanks. The red wines are aged in barrels for 12 to 18 months to enhance complexity, while the whites and rosés benefit from shorter aging to preserve freshness and fruit purity.

Style & aging

The wines are distinguished by their balance, fruity brilliance, and mouthwatering finesse:

  • The reds feature blackcurrant, garrigue, sweet spices, and elegant tannins, with a silky touch.

  • The whites and rosés offer freshness, floral notes, and delicate zest.
Aging ranges from 5 to 15 years depending on the cuvées; some special cuvées command respect for their elegance.

Iconic cuvées

  • Les Sentiers de Bagatelle – À l’Origine: Syrah/Grenache/Carignan parcel, powerful and refined.

  • Fleur de Bagatelle – Printemps: fresh blend (Mourvèdre/Syrah/Grenache/Carignan), charm, and indulgence.

  • Cuvée Tradition: expressive house wine, true to the Languedoc style.

  • Muscat Petit Grain: aromatic white wine, light, with floral and saline notes.
