Domaine Les Hutins – Expressive Terroir Wines from Geneva’s Edge
Located in Dardagny, just west of Geneva, Domaine Les Hutins spans around 19 hectares and is managed since 2008 by Émilienne Hutin Zumbach, together with her father Jean and soon their son Guillaume. Five generations of the Hutin family have cultivated this estate, pivotal in Geneva’s wine renaissance, now offering 16 different grape varieties in both white and red through an innovative ecological approach.
Approximately 2.5 hectares are in biodynamic conversion, and the entire estate emphasizes dense planting, mechanical soil tillage, zero herbicides, and diverse terroirs (stony, clayey or loamy soils). Harvests are entirely handpicked, vinified separately by parcel, grape variety, and vintage to preserve individuality.
White wines (Chardonnay, Chasselas, Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Savagnin, Viognier) are matured on lees in stainless steel or neutral containers, with minimal or no sulfur. Reds (Pinot Noir, Gamaret, Garanoir, Gamay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah) are fermented naturally, sometimes in whole cluster, with gentle extraction and aged in concrete or old barrels.
The style is focused on purity, terroir expression, and aromatic precision: white wines are floral, saline and vibrant; reds are elegant, fruit-driven, often complex from Swiss-Bordeaux hybrids, all with finesse and structure. Domaine Les Hutins embodies the philosophy of the vigneron-encaveur: the vineyard, the family and the wine, inseparably.
