Strength, elegance, and depth of a great Médoc terroir

Located on a hillside facing the Gironde, Château Meyney is one of the oldest wine estates in the Médoc, founded in the 17th century. Today, it stands as a major figure in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, with a single-block vineyard of 51 hectares. Under the technical direction of Anne Le Naour, the estate combines power and refinement, driven by precise vineyard management and meticulous winemaking.

A unique terroir in Saint-Estèphe

The vines rest on deep gravel soils over a thick layer of blue clay, giving the wine structure, freshness, and tension. The grape variety favors Cabernet Sauvignon (about 60%), accompanied by Merlot (30%) and a complement of Petit Verdot (10%). The geographical unity of the vineyard, its proximity to the estuary, and its relative altitude ensure slow and consistent ripening of the grapes.

Precision viticulture

The vineyard management is based on sustainable viticulture principles, with rigorous plot work, manual harvesting, and a double quality sorting. The estate is undergoing organic conversion on certain plots, with constant attention to soil balance and biodiversity.

Winemaking & aging

The winemaking is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats, with long macerations adapted to each batch. The aging lasts 16 to 24 months in French oak barrels, with about 40 to 50% new wood, to bring complexity, texture, and aging potential without overshadowing the fruit's brightness.

Style & emblematic cuvées

Prieur de Meyney: a second wine more accessible in its youth, with supple tannins and generous fruit, true to the typicity of Saint-Estèphe.
