A family story and conviction
The Alonso del Yerro estate was born in 2002 from the desire of María del Yerro and Javier Alonso to create an auteur wine, sincere and respectful of the Castilian terroir. On the heights of Roa, in the prestigious Ribera del Duero appellation, this passionate couple surrounded themselves with the oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt, a famous Bordeaux consultant, to give birth to a pure, precise, and vibrant wine, designed for aging.

Today, the estate remains in the hands of the family, with an intact demand and a constant quest for excellence.

A high-altitude terroir in the heart of the Ribera
The vines extend over 26 hectares around the Finca Santa Marta, at 800-900 meters altitude, on a clay-limestone plateau interspersed with gravel, sand, and schist. This mosaic of soils, combined with the large thermal amplitudes between day and night, offers an ideal environment for the Tempranillo (or Tinta Fina), the estate's unique grape variety.

The yields are deliberately low to ensure maximum concentration and perfect balance between fruit, freshness, and structure.

A philosophy inspired by respect and listening to the living
Viticulture is reasoned, in conversion to organic, with meticulous attention paid to each vine. The approach is almost Burgundian: listening to the plots, gentle soil work, manual harvesting, parcel-based vinifications... here, each cuvée is a faithful reflection of its terroir.

A vinification both demanding and intuitive
Vinifications are conducted with precision under the direction of Stéphane Derenoncourt and his team. Fermentations take place in small stainless steel or wooden vats, with indigenous yeasts. The extraction is gentle, the aging long (up to 15 months) in French barrels, mostly new wood, to refine the structure without masking the fruit.

Iconic cuvées

  • Alonso del Yerro: the estate's signature cuvée, from the best plots. Elegant, deep, complex, with an aging potential of 15 to 20 years.

  • María: a rare parcel-based cuvée, produced only in great vintages. A racy, structured Tempranillo, with chiseled tannins and impressive length.

Why choose Alonso del Yerro?
Because it is one of the discreet jewels of the Ribera del Duero. Because its wines combine Spanish depth and French elegance. Because here, each vintage tells a story of land, patience, and demand.

A confidential estate, an absolute must-discover for lovers of great emotional reds.
