At the heart of Wettolsheim, the Domaine Albert Mann has embodied the demanding renewal of Alsace for several decades. Led by the Mann and Barthelmé families, this family estate combines biodynamics, precision, and parcel expression, creating wines with a vibrant, pure, and chiseled style, which are among the most sought after in the region.
Born from the merger of two winemaking lineages – that of Albert Mann and that of Maurice Barthelmé –, the estate is now managed by Maurice Barthelmé and his wife Marie-Claire, joined by the new generation. In the vineyard as in the cellar, the philosophy has remained unchanged: serve the terroir above all.
The estate covers nearly 25 hectares, including several emblematic Grands Crus: Hengst, Furstentum, Schlossberg, Pfersigberg, and the mythical Altenbourg. Each soil – granite, limestone, sandstone, marl – imposes its rhythm, which biodynamic cultivation (certified Demeter) respects with millimetric precision.
Albert Mann wines are distinguished by their aromatic brilliance, mineral straightness, and depth without heaviness. Whether in Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, or Pinot Noir, each cuvée bears the imprint of the place more than that of the winemaker. Yields are low, extractions gentle, and aging precise but discreet.
Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg – vertical, granitic, crystalline.
Pinot Gris Altenbourg – rich, tense, saline.
Gewurztraminer Furstentum – noble, spicy, ample, and racy.
Pinot Noir “Grand H” – among the greatest reds of Alsace: deep, silky, Burgundian in spirit.
For the Barthelmé family, wine must evoke the place more than the style. No showmanship, no technical excess: just a sincere reading of the terroir, enhanced by virtuous practices and a constant search for balance. A cult estate for enlightened enthusiasts.
