Sharp craftsmanship, intense expression, and Médoc elegance

A small, confidential estate in Margaux, Château Moutte-Blanc produces about 3 hectares of red wines under the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. Cultivated by Patrice de Bortoli, an expert in Petit Verdot, this artisan château delivers fine and crafted cuvées from deep gravel soils and Arsac pebbles, offering a spicy and saline signature.

Terroir & grape varieties

  • Plots on the gravel plateau of Arsac, planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and especially Petit Verdot (≈25%), a rare grape variety, rich in color depth, spices, and noble tannins.

  • Old vines (dating from 1939) that ensure complexity and concentration.

Viticulture & philosophy

  • Estate classified as “Cru Artisans”: sustainable cultivation, manual harvesting, plot management.

  • Indigenous yeasts, fermentations by grape variety and plot, controlled extractions to preserve finesse and aroma.

Vinification & aging

  • Fermentation in cement vats, long maceration (about 4 weeks), malolactic in new barrels.

  • Aging for 12 to 14 months in Allier barrels (70% new) or recent; high-end cuvée “Moisin” (100% Petit Verdot) aged up to 16 months (60% new wood).

Style & cuvées

  • Château Moutte-Blanc: deep color, aromas of black fruits, fresh pepper, spices, silky tannic structure, and savory finish. Ready to drink from 2025–2035 depending on the vintage.

  • Moisin: 100% Petit Verdot, dense, black, spicy, superior aging potential.

  • Marguerite (Haut-Médoc): pure Cabernet expression, slender, with seductive gravitas.
