Founded in 2000 by Marc Ripoll Sans, the estate is located in the former family cellar Cal Batllet in Gratallops. The first vintages will bear the name "Vi de la Vila", affirming the local roots and the desire to reflect the specificities of Gratallops and Torroja.
Philosophy & Practices
Cellers Ripoll Sans combines tradition and precision. The vines, some of which are centuries old, are cultivated on the typical llicorella soil of Priorat. Manual harvesting, separate vinifications by plot, indigenous yeasts, and modulated aging (tank, barrel depending on the wine) ensure an authentic expression of the rock and altitude.
Terroir & Vineyards
Located around Gratallops and Torroja, the estate exploits llicorella terraces on steep slopes. The native grape varieties (Cariñena and Garnacha) are complemented by Merlot or Syrah depending on the vintage, revealing the mineral soul of the terroir.
Iconic Vintages
Closa Batllet / Ronçavall (Torroja): concentrated, mineral, from old vines.
D’Iatra (Gratallops): fruity, spicy, silky tannins, good value for money.
Llum d’Alena (Gratallops): refined red, ideal for local cuisine pairings.
5 Partides: elegant blend, marking the typicality of Gratallops.
Wine Style
The wines are intense, straight, and mineral, supported by well-polished tannins and remarkable freshness. The llicorella imparts a saline mineral signature, the aromas evoke black fruits, spices, and wild herbs, while the aging is carefully adjusted to preserve the original expression of the terroir.
