Vintages

Since 1834, Paul Jaboulet Aîné has embodied the timeless elegance of the great wines of the Rhône. Owner of La Chapelle, one of the mythical cuvées of Hermitage, this historic estate combines vision, tradition, and modern precision, under the guidance of the Frey family since 2006.

A Founding History of Northern Rhône

Founded in Tain-l'Hermitage, Jaboulet has marked the history of great French wines with its consistency and international influence. The acquisition by the Frey family – also owners of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux – has allowed for a spectacular renaissance, driven by Caroline Frey, a brilliant and perfectionist oenologist.

Legendary Terroirs

The estate exploits the greatest crus of the northern Rhône valley:

  • Hermitage (notably the hill of La Chapelle)

  • Crozes-Hermitage

  • Cornas

  • Saint-Joseph

  • Condrieu

  • And down to the southern Rhône valley (Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape).

The work in organic and biodynamic viticulture, on steep slopes, allows for a reading of rare precision of these millennial terroirs.

A Refined and Luminous Style

The wines signed by Jaboulet combine depth and freshness, with a vibrant mineral framework and subtle aging. Syrah reaches peaks of expression here: juicy, peppery, airy, and intense. The whites, notably in Marsanne and Roussanne, are racy, creamy, always taut.

Iconic Cuvées

  • Hermitage La Chapelle: legendary cuvée, produced since 1919, immortalized by the vintages 1961 or 1990.

  • Crozes-Hermitage “Domaine de Thalabert”: freshness, structure, and indulgence.

  • Saint-Joseph “Le Grand Pompée”: finesse, spices, Rhône elegance.

  • Hermitage Blanc “Chevalier de Sterimberg”: perfect balance between density and tension.

A Philosophy of Demand and Emotion

Under the direction of Caroline Frey, each plot is cultivated like a garden, according to the principles of certified biodynamics. Manual harvesting, drastic selections, gentle fermentations, and tailor-made aging contribute to a vision of wine as a vector of pure emotion, faithful to its terroir, without artifice.
