Great expression of Pomerol, balance and mineral tension

Domaine of 32 hectares located on the western slopes of the Pomerol appellation, Château Nénin reveals a rare balance between power, finesse, and elegance. It has belonged to the Vauthier family since 1971 and is currently managed by Michel Rolland (consultant) and Werner Georis (technical director), who make it a model of refined Pomerol terroir.

A complex terroir

  • Vines on clay-gravel soils with deep clay veins, alternating plateaus and terraces, offering richness, structure, freshness, and tension.

  • Predominantly Merlot (≈80%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (≈20%), selected to bring finesse, length, and complexity.

Demanding viticulture

  • Rigorous plot management with grass cover, manual harvesting, and very selective sorting.

  • Respectful approach to biodiversity, with the establishment of hedges and ecological corridors to strengthen the natural balance.

Vinification & aging

  • Fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats by batch, followed by gentle and respectful macerations.

  • Aging for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, with a moderate contribution of 40% to 50% new wood, for delicate structure and perfect integration without over-oaking.

Style & signature cuvée

Château Nénin – Grand Vin: deep color, complex nose combining plum, blackberry, graphite, truffle, and sweet spices. The palate offers beautiful tension, fine tannins, a velvety texture, and a long saline mineral finish. It evolves elegantly over 15–25 years.
