Domaine Paul Janin & Fils — A Century-Long Testament to Terroir

Founded by cooper-turned-vigneron Jean-Claude in 1918, the estate took shape when Marcel Janin bought his first vines in 1937 at Le Tremblay. In 1967, Paul Janin added the centennial Greneriers vineyard, now central to the domain’s flagship wines. Today, Éric Janin guides the estate with humility and depth, preparing his daughter Perrine to continue this legacy with attentiveness to both tradition and terroir.

Mindful Viticulture & Grounded Practices

Committed to a viticulture rooted in the earth, Éric maintains ancestral care: frequent ploughing, no synthetic pesticides, and a structured move towards organic certification by 2024. The estate controls around 8.5 hectares—7.5 ha planted in Gamay, 0.6 ha in Chardonnay—across Moulin-à-Vent, Brouilly, and Chénas. Hand-harvested and parcel-driven, the wines are vinified with whole bunches, gentle semi-carbonic maceration, cuvée-by-cuvée aging, and careful blending.

Signature Style

Their wines embody a refined elegance, fresh clarity, and harmonious structure. Reflecting the granite soils, the aged Gamay vines bring depth and tension without heaviness. Texturally balanced and mineral, these wines are both rooted and graceful—a conversation between place, vine, and time.

Quiet Distinction, Lasting Resonance

The Janin estate does not chase recognition—it shapes wines of calm authority. Celebrated for its precision, historical depth, and the honesty it lends to Beaujolais terroirs, it stands among the region’s most admired. Every bottle is a page of history, place, and mastery—modest miracles born from Gamay.
