Elegant finesse, harmonious structure, and velvety expression
Cru Classé de Saint‑Émilion, Château Trotte Vieille spans approximately 14 hectares of clay-gravel terraces, promoting maturity and freshness. Under the benevolent guidance of the Cazes family, the estate embodies sophisticated elegance, blending fruity precision, saline tension, and refined roundness.
Terroir & grape varieties
Gravel and clay soils on well-exposed slopes. The grape composition is predominantly Merlot (≈75%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (≈20%) and a hint of Cabernet Sauvignon, ideally balanced to reveal fruit, structure, and elegance.
Viticulture & winemaking
Sustainable viticulture, manual harvesting, careful sorting. Separate fermentations by grape variety and plot, modulated macerations to preserve harmony. Aging for 16 to 18 months in barrels (~50% new), bringing finesse, structure, and a discreet oakiness.
Style & aging potential
The wine charms with its aromas of black cherry, raspberry, violet, and a spicy hint, all supported by an elegant saline tension. The texture is silky and the finish expressive. To be enjoyed from 5 to 20 years, depending on the vintages.
