A refined treasure crafted by the Soucher family
Property of the Soucher-Malet family, Château La Conseillante is today managed by Alain Soucher, accompanied by Sophie Soucher, in charge of viticulture, and Rodolphe Buisson, consulting oenologist. They strive to enhance the finesse and precision of the Pomerol terroir.
Terroir & grape varieties: elegance on blue gravel
The 12 ha vineyard stretches over deep clay-gravel soils, with a notable presence of blue clay, offering both drainage and retention capacity. The grape composition consists of Merlot (~95%), providing roundness, and a complement of Cabernet Franc (~5%), to bring finesse and length.
Viticulture & philosophy: parcel-based, respect, balance
Sustainable viticulture with partial grass cover, careful pruning, and manual harvesting. Sorting is conducted berry by berry to keep only the perfect grape. The whole reflects a philosophy of truth to the place and lightness of intervention.
Vinification & aging: purity and controlled richness
Vinifications are micro-parcel-based, in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, with macerations of 3 to 4 weeks and adapted pump-overs. Aging lasts 16 to 18 months in French barrels (≈ 60% new), selected to support complexity without overshadowing tension and purity.
