Super-second of legend, richness, finesse, and deep roots

Sister of Château Haut-Brion, Château La Mission Haut-Brion is a Cru Classé de Graves since 1953, extending over approximately 30 hectares including ±26 ha red (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc) and ±4 ha white (Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc). Owned by Domaine Clarence Dillon, managed by Jean-Philippe Delmas with the help of Pascal Baratié, Jean-Philippe Masclef and Prince Robert de Luxembourg, the estate combines respect for the soil, heritage, and innovation.

An exceptional terroir

The vineyard rests on the same vast gravel terrace as that of Haut-Brion, shared with the Pessac-Léognan appellation, then on a clay-sandy limestone subsoil. This remarkable structure is reflected in wines that are both precise, complex, and of great depth.

A historical and human construction

The vines, located between Talence and Pessac, benefit from the same microclimate as Haut-Brion. Since 1926, the introduction of vitrified enamel tanks has allowed optimal control of fermentations. The years 1980–2000 saw significant modernizations (vat room 1987, cellar 1996…).

Vinification & aging

The fermentation of reds is done in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks of 180 hL, with blending done just after malo and before aging. The aging of reds lasts 18–22 months in 100% new barrels. The whites are fermented and aged in new barrels for 13–16 months, without malo.

Style & cuvées

Château La Mission Haut-Brion (red): powerful, dense wine, with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, tobacco, truffle, graphite; fine tannic structure, great complexity, exceptional aging potential (30–50 years).
La Mission Haut-Brion (white): astonishing alliance of richness and freshness, notes of citrus, floral, balance between fullness and straightness.
La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion: second red wine, concentrated but more accessible.
La Clarté de Haut-Brion: second white wine, fruity, elegant, resulting from a blend with Haut-Brion white.
