A family estate with an extraordinary destiny

Located in La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne, the estate was founded in the 1880s by the Tremblay family, before Jean-Claude Bessin (an architect by training) and Evelyne Tremblay took it over in 1992. They quickly devoted their energy to reviving the 12 hectares of old vines, in emblematic plots such as Fourchaume, Montmains, and the Grand Cru Valmur.

A striking conversion to biodynamics

Driven by their sons Romain (a jazz musician who returned to the vineyard) and Antoine (a biochemist), the estate has been moving towards organic and then biodynamic farming since 2015. This shift is reflected in regular plowing, cover cropping, manual harvesting, massal selection pruning, and ultra-early harvesting (end of August) to preserve freshness and tension.

Old vines & selected terroirs

The vines, aged 45 to 70 years (less than 10% young grafts), are planted on limestone slopes rich in fossils. The microclimates — Fourchaume La Pièce au Comte, Montmains, La Forêt, Valmur Grand Cru — offer a powerful mineral palette, saline fruit, and palpable density.

Natural vinification & long aging

100% Chardonnay, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, aging combined in stainless steel tanks and neutral barrels (10% new wood max), on fine lees for 15 to 18 months. The cellar approach is minimalist: rare filtrations, controlled sulfites, gentle oxygenation through used wood.

Style: vibrant tension, salinity & depth

The Chablis Villages are clean, straight, with notes of lemon, white apple, flint, and iodine. Vieilles Vignes pack refined flesh, La Forêt exudes smoky touches, Fourchaume unfolds its power, and Valmur masters the balance between mineral concentration and elegance.

Iconic cuvées & aging potential

  • Chablis Villages & Vieilles Vignes: depth, white fruits, tactile salinity

  • 1er Crus: Montmains, La Forêt, Fourchaume La Pièce au Comte: tension, richness, density

  • Grand Cru Valmur: mineral power, marine salinity, aging 15+ years

The two brothers raise their wines among the finest of the appellation, often cited in the top-6 by critics.
