Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, Château Bel Air Marquis d’Aligre is one of the most unique estates in Bordeaux. Founded in the 19th century, it remains today faithful to a rare, assumed artisanal philosophy that is deeply respectful of time.

For over 40 years, Jean-Pierre Boyer, an emblematic figure, has been solely managing this estate against the current. Rejecting the logic of technical modernization, he pursues a deeply traditional vision, based on the pure expression of the terroir and patience.

A historical, preserved terroir

The vineyard, about 15 hectares, consists of very old vines (some pre-phylloxera), on gravel and clay mounds typical of Margaux. The grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and even some old forgotten varieties.

A timeless vinification

The vinification has remained unchanged for decades: no intense extraction, no new wood, and a slow maturation in concrete vats, followed by a long aging in bottle before any commercialization. No rush, no concession to current trends.

A single cuvée, an inimitable style

The estate produces a single cuvée, Château Bel Air Marquis d’Aligre, only in years deemed worthy. The wine, with its silky texture and complex bouquet, expresses an almost Burgundian elegance, with melted tannins and a long aging potential.
