A discreet craftsman attuned to nature
Jean-Yves Bizot, a geologist by training and a passionate oenologist, took over the small family estate founded by his father in 1993. Initially modest, with only 2.5 hectares in Vosne-Romanée, the estate has patiently expanded to about 3.5 ha, now including some plots in Marsannay and Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. A tireless worker and philosopher of the living, Jean-Yves has quietly imposed a radically refined vision of viticulture and winemaking.
Exceptional terroirs, managed without compromise
The vines, often old, are located on some of the most sought-after appellations in Burgundy: Vosne-Romanée (villages and Premiers Crus), Échézeaux Grand Cru, Marsannay “Clos du Roy”, Bourgogne “Le Chapitre”, as well as some magnificent white terroirs in Burgundy and Hautes-Côtes. The work is entirely manual, with very low yields, often between 8 and 15 hl/ha, in order to express the character of the place as accurately as possible.
Winemaking without artifice, focused on purity
The grapes are vinified in whole clusters, without destemming, without yeast addition, without sulfur addition during vinification, without fining or filtration. Fermentations are slow and gentle, in open wooden vats, without seeking extraction. Each cuvée is aged separately in new barrels (100% Rousseau), without stirring or racking. Bottling is done manually, barrel by barrel, without blending.
Signature style: tension, fragrance, and depth
The wines of the estate, produced in tiny quantities, offer a unique style combining floral delicacy, crystalline purity of fruit, incisive minerality, and remarkable length. The tannins are of extreme finesse, always supported by a vibrant acidic framework and great aromatic precision. These are wines of emotion, which require time to reveal their full complexity.
