Domaine du Pégau – The Soul of Châteauneuf-du-Pape

A historic estate in the heart of the southern Côtes du Rhône
Founded in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1670, Domaine du Pégau is an essential reference. Today managed by Marie-Thérèse and Maxime Vache, it continues a family tradition of more than 12 generations, combining authenticity and excellence.

Exceptional territories on rolled pebbles
The 35 hectares of vineyards are rooted in typical soils with rolled pebbles, clay, and sand. The main grapes are Grenache (60%), Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault, cultivated in certified biodynamics.

Biodynamic viticulture and manual harvesting
The estate is managed in certified biodynamics, promoting soil regeneration and vine vigor. The harvest is manual and selectively sorted to ensure optimal quality.

Traditional vinification & careful aging
The grape varieties are vinified separately, in concrete or thermo-regulated steel vats, with manual punching down. Aging is done in foudres and demi-muids, with a proportion of old wood to preserve freshness and aromatic balance.

Signature style: power, freshness & mineral expression
Pégau wines are recognized for their depth, silky texture, and balance between dark fruits, southern spices, and minerality brought by the pebbles. Also remarkable in Châteauneuf-blanc for elegance and length.

Iconic cuvées:

  • Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Cuvée Réservée 2021”: Grenache-dominant, structured, ripe, and balanced

  • Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc: rich, floral, saline

  • La Cise: terroir expression, more solar, accessible young

  • Raisins de l’An 1687: historical tribute, selection on the vine, for long aging
