Classified Third Growth in 1855, Château Boyd-Cantenac is a historic property of the Margaux appellation. Founded in 1754 by the Irish Boyd family, the estate has belonged to the Guillemet family since 1932. Today, Lucien Guillemet manages it, continuing with discretion and rigor a tradition of finesse and elegance.
A noble and demanding terroir
The 17-hectare vineyard rests on the famous Garonne gravel of Margaux, with excellent natural drainage. The classic Médoc grape variety consists of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (8%), and Petit Verdot (7%). The estate cultivates its vines in a sustainable manner, with scrupulous respect for the soil and the vegetative cycle.
Traditional vinification and artisanal precision
The vinifications are conducted in thermoregulated stainless steel vats, with gentle extraction. The aging lasts from 12 to 18 months, in French oak barrels (30 to 60% new depending on the vintage). The Boyd-Cantenac style favors elegance over power, with chiseled tannins, floral notes, and great freshness.
