A First Great Classified Growth at the pinnacle of elegance

In the heart of the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, Château Canon embodies one of the purest, most refined expressions of this mythical terroir. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé since 1954, the estate has experienced a spectacular renaissance since its acquisition by the Chanel house in 1996, under the enlightened direction of Nicolas Audebert, a charismatic and perfectionist oenologist.

Combining historical heritage, contemporary precision, and long-term vision, Canon captivates with its racy elegance, mineral depth, and ability to move.

An exceptional limestone terroir, in the heart of the village

The vineyard extends over 34 hectares in a single block, just a stone's throw from the medieval city of Saint-Émilion. It rests on a limestone plateau with asteries, one of the most renowned soils in Bordeaux, which imparts the wines with a mineral straightness, natural freshness, and remarkable longevity.

The vines, with an average age of 30 years, are primarily planted with Merlot, accompanied by Cabernet Franc, cultivated with extreme care and respect for living balances.

A fine, precise, poetic style

Canon is above all a wine of harmony and tension, combining the indulgence of Merlot with the floral momentum of Cabernet Franc. The aromas of raspberry, violet, warm stone, and infusion blend into a chiseled material, with a silky texture, carried by a straight and persistent frame. The aging, perfectly integrated, respects the fruit and the terroir.

Iconic cuvées

  • Château Canon: The great wine, emblem of grace and purity, crafted for aging but already charming in its youth.

  • Croix Canon: The second wine, from neighboring plots, in a more accessible style but faithful to the estate's signature.

A philosophy of balance, place, and time

Château Canon cultivates an art of detail, from the vine to the cellar: precision viticulture, manual parcel harvesting, gentle vinifications, and tailor-made aging. The estate is committed to a responsible environmental approach, prioritizing biodiversity and the preservation of life.
