An iconic, vibrant, and renovated estate
Founded in 1957 by Charles Joguet, a painter turned winemaker, he initiated the single-vineyard cuvées in Chinon. Taken over by the Genet family in 1985 and certified organic since 2016, it now spans 32 hectares of Cabernet Franc and 2 hectares of Chenin Blanc, with manual harvesting and respectful soil practices.
Iconic single-vineyards & carefully exploited terroirs
Each cuvée reveals a specific vineyard: Clos de la Dioterie (century-old vines on north-east facing clay-limestone), Clos du Chêne Vert (south-west slope clay-limestone hillsides), Les Varennes du Grand Clos (sandy terraces). To the Villages are added Les Petites Roches, Les Charmes… Precise expression of the altitudes and soils of the Vienne.
Natural vinification & controlled aging
The reds are fermented in wooded stainless steel vats, with long macerations, aged in barrels for 12–18 months. The whites (Chenin) undergo malolactic fermentation in barrels to gain harmony, aged on lees. Minimal practice in the cellar: no fining, no filtration to convey purity & typicity.
Signature style: purity, salinity & tension
The wines are clean, saline, with mouthwatering freshness; they combine tannic structure, spicy red fruit, graphite, violet, raspberry. Clos de la Dioterie demonstrates elegance and longevity (30 years), while the Villages cuvées are digestible and expressive from a young age.
