Domaine Vacheron — Nature’s voice in Sancerre

Based in Sancerre, Domaine Vacheron is a benchmark family estate now led by cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron. Their philosophy blends traditional know-how with a rigorous biodynamic approach, crafting wines of purity and precision.

The domaine takes a single-parcel approach, producing cuvées that reflect the geological diversity of the region — flint, limestone, and clay-limestone.

Philosophy and winemaking

The entire vineyard is certified biodynamic, farmed with horse-plowing, manual work, and no synthetic chemicals. Harvesting is done at full ripeness, by hand.

Fermentations are spontaneous, using native yeasts, with little to no sulfur added. Depending on the wine, aging is done in stainless steel, large foudres, or neutral oak demi-muids — always aiming for clarity, minerality, and energy.

Wine style

The white Sancerres are dry, racy, and intensely mineral — especially from flint soils. The reds, made from Pinot Noir, are surprisingly elegant and structured for the region, with fine tannins and real finesse.

Each wine is a pure translation of place, vintage, and terroir, with no artifice.

Signature cuvées

  • Sancerre Blanc – Precise, fresh, mineral: the house’s signature style.

  • Les Romains – Flint-based parcel, sharp, saline, crystalline.

  • Chambrates – Calcareous soil, rounder, refined and elegant.

  • Sancerre Rouge “Belle Dame” – Structured Pinot Noir, deep and expressive.

  • Le Paradis – A rare, flinty white with extreme purity and tension.

A modern Sancerre benchmark

Domaine Vacheron represents the cutting edge of Sancerre, with thoughtful, biodynamic viticulture and detailed winemaking. Their wines are precise, place-driven, and among the most sought-after in the Loire Valley.
