High-altitude Merlot, fruit purity, and natural balance
Château Marsau is a confidential estate of 13 hectares located on the heights of the Côtes de Francs appellation, in the Entre-deux-Mers region. Owned by the Chadronnier family since 1994, it is now managed by Mathieu Chadronnier and his wife Anne-Laurence Chadronnier, who embody a modern and respectful approach to the terroir. Their commitment to organic farming and the principles of biodynamics makes Marsau a rising reference on the right bank of Bordeaux.
A terroir of clay and light
The vineyard, entirely planted with Merlot, rests on a clay-limestone plateau at nearly 100 meters altitude, one of the highest points in Bordeaux. This deep and living soil produces wines that are both rich and tense, imbued with natural freshness. The exposure and geographical isolation of the plateau allow for slow and homogeneous ripening of the grapes.
A committed viticulture
Marsau has been in organic conversion since 2020, with gentle farming practices and a refusal of chemical inputs. The parcel work, manual harvesting, and exclusive use of indigenous yeasts reflect a non-interventionist winemaking philosophy, serving the identity of the place.
Precision in the cellar
Vinification is carefully conducted in small stainless steel or concrete vats depending on the parcels. The wine is then aged for 12 to 18 months in lightly wooded barrels, amphorae, or foudres, respecting the fruit. The goal is to preserve the velvety texture of the Merlot while expressing the minerality of the terroir.
Style & emblematic cuvée
Château Marsau: a pure Merlot with an expressive nose of black fruits, violet, sweet spices, and a chalky touch. Fleshy, supple, energetic, and silky on the palate, with a mouthwatering finish. It is a wine of immediate pleasure but gains depth with a few years of aging.
