Description
"Dark red-ruby. Knockout nose combines black cherry, currant, pungent minerality, cocoa powder and game, all lifted by a captivating floral topnote; Confuron considers this wine to be more open and "more typical of the image of 2015" than most of his other crus. Hugely concentrated, dense and edge-free, conveying an almost candied ripeness and hints of chocolate and mocha without any roasted character. This wine struck me as rather oaky from barrel a year ago but today the wood element is in harmony with the fruit. Finishes with ripe, broad tannins and outstanding slowly mounting length. Owing to its strong mineral underpinning and building tannins, I can easily imagine this very complete Mazis going into a shell at some point."
