In patois, Mazis refers to small houses. The wines of the grand cru Mazis-Chambertin appellation have a beautiful aromatic palette with notes of red fruits like blackcurrant or cherry. Then, with the years, they will gain in complexity and more subtle aromas are discovered, such as licorice stick, cocoa bean, or even mocha.
As it is a very complex wine, it will wonderfully accompany elaborate cuisine like a piece of beef with chanterelles. It will also hold up well with aged cheeses like Epoisses.
