Aloxe-Corton is a commune located in Côte de Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, renowned for being the birthplace of some of the region's greatest wines. This small commune is particularly famous for its vineyard, which houses prestigious grands crus, including Corton and Corton-Charlemagne, both ranked among the most prestigious of the Côte de Beaune.

The village of Aloxe-Corton is located at the foot of Corton Hill, a hill overlooking the Saône Valley, which is home to some of the greatest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay terroirs. The commune's terroir is mainly composed of limestone and clay-limestone soils, which allow the grapes to ripen slowly and acquire remarkable aromatic complexity.

Aloxe-Corton is especially famous for its red wines, notably the Corton Grand Cru, made from Pinot Noir. These wines are distinguished by their power, richness, and ability to age gracefully. The specific terroir of Corton produces wines often endowed with red fruit notes, wet earth, cocoa, and roasted coffee, with an elegant tannic structure and a beautiful length.

In addition to red wines, Aloxe-Corton is also a source of great white wines, particularly Corton-Charlemagne, a Chardonnay white wine of great finesse and complexity, known for its white flower aromas, white-fleshed fruit, fresh butter, and minerality.

The wines of Aloxe-Corton are generally powerful and structured, with excellent aging potential. They pair perfectly with rich dishes such as meats in sauce, beef bourguignon, or aged cheeses.

Aloxe-Corton, with its exceptional terroirs, is a must-visit for Burgundy wine lovers seeking wines of character.
