A dream turned estate

Created in 1998 by Hervé Bizeul – former sommelier, restaurateur, and journalist – and his wife Claudine, the Clos des Fées is established on the limestone slopes of Vingrau, at the heart of the Agly circus . From the beginning, the couple adopted sustainable viticulture, horse plowing, and manual harvesting to reveal the mineral identity of the place .

A 30 ha vineyard in mosaic

The estate covers nearly 30 ha spread over 112 small plots, surrounding the appellations Côtes du Roussillon, Côtes-du-Roussillon Villages, and IGP Côtes Catalanes. The clay-limestone terroir, on steep terraces, gives the wines tension, density, and elegance .

Soil philosophy & respect for the vine

At Clos des Fées, the health of the soil and ecosystems is a priority: observation of plots, manual work, absence of systematic chemistry — all complemented by inventive practices, as in the case of Petite Sibérie born from a late harvest to save a vintage .

Creative vinifications & varied aging

Australs produced from syrah, grenache, carignan, mourvèdre, and even cabernet franc or tempranillo, the estate also offers rare whites. Fermentations are done in stainless steel, concrete, new/used barrels, or demi-muids, with long macerations or delicate extractions depending on the cuvée .

Signature style: refinement & salinity

Clos des Fées expresses both power and finesse: dense color, spicy and fruity nose, silky mouthfeel, and silky tannins, always carried by a saline freshness. The "Sorcières" versions offer indulgence and liveliness, La Petite Sibérie charms with its altitude concentration .

Iconic cuvées

  • Le Clos des Fées: blend of old vines, aged 18 months in new barrels, classic blend (Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre)

  • La Petite Sibérie: grenache from a high-altitude vine, velvety texture, aging complexity

  • Les Sorcières (red & white): open fruit, light aging, immediate and precise

  • Original cuvées: Images Dérisoires (Tempranillo), Un Faune avec son Fifre (Cabernet Franc + Carignan)
