A classified growth of tradition, revitalized by the Rouzaud family
Château Lagrange has been a Grand Cru Classé since 1855, revitalized since 1983 by the Rouzaud family (Rémy Cointreau group). Today, the estate is managed by François-Xavier Borie, surrounded by Laurent Dugat, technical director, and the oenologist Cédric Bouchard, with a resolute focus on excellence and sustainability.
The vineyard covers 115 ha of deep, well-drained gravel, on typical Garonne gravel soils of the central Médoc. The classic blend includes Cabernet Sauvignon (~60%), Merlot (~35%), with a small portion of Petit Verdot (~5%), ensuring power, elegance, and longevity.
The estate aims for the perfect balance between tradition and modern rigor: sustainable viticulture, soil work, manual harvesting, and parcel selection. Vinifications are done by parcel cell in stainless steel vats, followed by a rigorous 18-month aging in barrels (≈ 50% new), for a refined and racy structure.
Château Lagrange: grand wine, powerful and elegant blend, notes of blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, silky tannins, and a long, racy saline finish.
Les Fiefs de Lagrange: second wine, more accessible in youth, fresh, fruity, and indulgent, while respecting the spirit of Saint-Julien.
