Domaine Jamet – The pure and granitic expression of Côte-Rôtie
Located on the heights of Ampuis, Domaine Jamet is today a symbol of purity and rigor in the expression of the Côte-Rôtie terroir. With an approach faithful to the roots of the region, Jean-Paul Jamet, a discreet but respected figure, embodies a classic and timeless vision of the Northern Syrah.
The estate, now supported by Loïc Jamet, his son, cultivates about twenty plots, mainly at altitude, on the steep terraces of the northern part of the appellation. These vines rest on very ancient schist and granite soils, worked manually and without possible mechanization. The viticulture is reasoned, close to organic in spirit, with constant work on natural balances.
In the cellar, the harvest is manual, the grapes often not destemmed, fermented with their stems to preserve the identity of the fruit and enhance freshness. The vinifications are long but gentle, then the aging is done in old oak barrels (without excess new wood), sometimes up to 24 months. No artifice, no makeup: the Jamet style is based on the transparency, liveliness, and energy of the wine.
The wines of the estate are renowned for their tension, floral elegance (violet, white pepper), and a nervous but always digestible palate, with real aging potential. Unlike some more concentrated styles, Jamet prefers brightness over power, and structure over caricatural fruit.
