Founded in 1864 in the Duero Valley, Vega Sicilia is considered the most prestigious estate in Spain. Located in Valbuena de Duero, in the heart of the province of Valladolid, it has acquired its mythical status thanks to a constant quest for excellence and legendary discretion. Since 1982, the Álvarez family, under the leadership of Pablo Álvarez, has been managing the estate with rigor and vision.


The property extends over approximately 210 hectares of vineyards, with the majority dedicated to Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Vega Sicilia was a pioneer in introducing Bordeaux grape varieties in Spain and continues to cultivate a style at the crossroads of worlds.


Philosophy & Winemaking


At Vega Sicilia, time is an integral ingredient. The wines are aged for a long time, sometimes more than ten years before being marketed. Aging is done in a subtle combination of new and old barrels, in French and American oak, with frequent racking in the Bordeaux style. Every detail is mastered, each batch is vinified separately, and only the best blends are retained.


The estate's approach favors longevity, depth, and elegance, in a demanding plot logic, without compromise on quality.


Iconic Cuvées




  • Unico: the iconic cuvée, a wine for very long aging, often aged more than 10 years before release. Complexity, nobility, precision.




  • Unico Reserva Especial: a blend of several vintages of Unico, available only in certain years. Rare and legendary.




  • Valbuena 5º Año: the estate's second wine, aged 5 years, with a more accessible but still refined style.




  • Alión: produced in a separate facility, 100% Tempranillo, more modern and intense.




  • Pintia (in Toro) and Macán (in Rioja) complete the Vega Sicilia galaxy.
