Domini de la Cartoixa — Elegance born from stone and sun

Located in El Molar, in the rugged heart of Priorat, Domini de la Cartoixa is a standout estate blending Catalan heritage, artisanal viticulture, and a strong sense of place. Its name honors the Cartoixa d’Escaladei, the ancient monastery that first brought viticulture to the region.

With its schist-rich soils and steep vineyards, the domaine is now a benchmark for modern Priorat wines — bold yet balanced, rooted in history and terroir.

Philosophy and winemaking

Vineyards are hand-farmed on steep slopes, following eco-conscious and sustainable practices. Yields are kept low for concentration and quality.

Fermentations are parcel-specific and natural, using stainless steel, concrete, or wood depending on the character of each grape. Aging is done with care, mostly in used barrels or large formats, to refine without overwhelming the wine.

Wine style

Domini de la Cartoixa wines are known for their intensity, balance, and vibrant minerality. Reds are deep and structured, with the heat of the Mediterranean offset by the cool energy of licorella (schist). Garnacha and Cariñena dominate, with well-judged additions of international varieties.

The whites are rare and compelling, marked by salinity, freshness, and ripe Mediterranean fruit.
