Domaine Marchand-Grillot – Pinot Noir Purity from Gevrey-Chambertin since 1950

Domaine Marchand-Grillot, based in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin since the 1950s, is a respected family-run estate in the Côte de Nuits. Now led by Étienne Marchand, third generation of the family, the domaine continues to emphasize terroir expression, precision, and elegance in its winemaking.

The estate covers around 10 hectares of vineyards, mostly centered around Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis and Marsannay. The vines, many of which are over 50 years old, grow on complex limestone-clay soils that provide structure and depth to the wines.

Vineyard work is meticulous and sustainable, with regular plowing, minimal treatments, manual harvesting, and strict plot selection. In the cellar, winemaking follows a classic approach with a focus on finesse: fermentation with native yeasts, gentle punch-downs during extended maceration, and aging in French oak barrels (20–30% new) for 12 to 18 months.

The house style emphasizes fruit clarity, mineral tension, and refined structure. Each climat is expressed with precision, resulting in subtle, long-lived wines that showcase the noble side of Pinot Noir—pure, velvety, and beautifully balanced.
