A family legacy rooted in Rhône excellence since 1952
Founded by Roger Sabon in 1952, this family-run estate is now in the hands of his sons Jean-Jacques, Denis, and Gilbert Sabon. Together, they uphold a tradition of precision, authenticity, and respect for terroir that places Domaine Roger Sabon among the most cherished producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Far from flashy trends, their wines are a connoisseur’s secret.
A mosaic of terroirs across Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The estate spans 17 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, along with small plots in Lirac and Côtes-du-Rhône. The real strength lies in the diversity of soils: rolled pebbles, sand, limestone, and clay-safres—each offering a distinct voice in the final blends.
Old vines—many over 50 years, some over 100—are dominated by Grenache, alongside Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Vaccarèse, and Counoise. Whites, though rare, include Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette, and Bourboulenc.
A style of depth, restraint, and age-worthy elegance
Sabon’s wines are known for their balance of richness and finesse. Fermentations occur in concrete or stainless steel, followed by aging in large oak foudres, demi-muids, and old barrels. The goal is not showy extraction, but clarity, texture, and authenticity, with tremendous aging potential.
