Domaine Louis Violland – A Historic Burgundy Estate in the Heart of Beaune

Founded in 1844, Domaine Louis Violland is based in the center of Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. Housed in historic buildings and ancient cellars, the estate continues a discreet yet enduring family tradition of producing expressive red and white wines that reflect the region’s finest terroirs.

The estate spans multiple respected appellations, including Beaune, Pommard, Mercurey, Rully, and the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. Vineyard practices are sustainable, with careful soil management, low yields, and exclusively manual harvesting. Each parcel is vinified separately to respect and highlight its unique character.

In the cellar, winemaking focuses on minimal intervention: fermentation takes place with native yeasts, extraction is gentle through measured punch-downs, and destemming is adapted to each vintage. Wines are aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, with new oak kept to 20–30% to preserve purity and elegance.

The result is a range of precise and balanced wines in a classical, approachable style. Reds made from Pinot Noir offer red and black fruit, spice, and earthy notes, with fine tannins and elegant texture. Whites from Chardonnay show freshness, mineral tension, and a rounded mouthfeel, accessible young yet capable of aging.
