Visionary creative, alpine terroir and unique wines
Located between Martigny and Fully on 2.7 hectares, Christophe Abbet is one of the most daring and inventive winemakers in Switzerland. Since 1985, he has been cultivating rare local grape varieties organically and reviving old vines on gneiss and granite terroirs with strong character.
The old vines, sometimes in micro-plots of a few hundred m², are rooted in complex soils (gneiss, granite) at an altitude of 460 m. He produces wines from grape varieties typical of Valais: Petite Arvine, Ermitage (Marsanne), Païen (Savagnin), Cornalin, Humagne Rouge, Arvine, Syrah, Gamay, Pinot Noir, Chasselas.
Manual harvesting, gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentations. The aging processes are varied: stainless steel tanks, large barrels, vin de voile, sometimes without filtration or sulfites. The experimental vinifications reveal a controlled creativity.
The wines are textured, vibrant, imbued with alpine freshness. Fruity, floral, mineral, or spicy depending on the cuvées, they combine elegance and depth. Their aging potential varies from 5 to 15 years, with some vin de voile wines evolving even longer.
Petite Arvine: clear white, citrus, alpine precision.
Ermitage (Marsanne): rich, notes of quince and honey, long body.
Païen: lively Savagnin, herbal and mineral.
Cornalin: light red, red fruits.
Humagne Rouge: spicy red, nice structure.
Syrah: fragrant red, violet and pepper, capable of aging.
Gamay Vieilles Vignes: gourmet red, cherry, freshness.
Vin de Voile: oxidative style, melted tannins, complex.
