Located a stone's throw from the historic center of Montepulciano, the Il Conventino estate perfectly embodies the elegance and depth of Vino Nobile, in a sincere, refined, and life-respecting version. Founded in the 1980s on the lands of a former 15th-century convent, the estate benefits from an exceptional architectural and wine heritage, now enhanced by certified organic viticulture and artisanal work in the cellar.
The vineyard, about 13 hectares, rests on clay-limestone and sandy soils, at an altitude of 350 to 450 meters. This ideal situation gives the grapes a slow maturity, natural acidity, and beautiful tension, perfect conditions for Sangiovese (locally called Prugnolo Gentile), the king grape variety of the estate. The Tuscan climate, with its strong thermal amplitudes, promotes aromatic concentration and the finesse of the tannins.
The wines of Il Conventino are distinguished by their balance between power and freshness, their silky texture, and their clarity of aromatic expression. Each cuvée is an honest reading of the vintage and the terroir, without excessive oak makeup, with a great fidelity to the fruit and origin.
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG: purity of Prugnolo Gentile, aging in oak vats. Elegant, straight, long.
Vino Nobile Riserva: plot selection, extended aging – contained power, complexity, great aging potential.
Rosso di Montepulciano: more accessible, very digestible, on red fruit and sweet spices.
Vin Santo: rare nectar from natural grape drying and long aging in caratelli.
Under the current direction of Gianluca Galimberti, the estate focuses on rigorous organic farming, without herbicides or synthetic products, with manual harvesting and gentle winemaking. No added yeast, moderate extractions, long but discreet aging: everything aims to preserve the purity of the fruit and the digestibility of the wines, without ever sacrificing depth.
