Located in Puligny-Montrachet, Benoît Ente is now among the most respected winemakers in the Côte de Beaune. Initially discreet, he has established himself through rigorous groundwork, a clear vision of purity, and exemplary precision both in the cellar and in the vineyard.

History and Philosophy

The family estate was taken over in the 1990s. Long overshadowed by his brother Arnaud, Benoît distinguished himself through hard work and deep introspection. He reduced yields, improved cultivation methods, and developed a philosophy of control and balance.

Vineyard and Cultural Approach

The estate covers about 6 hectares, mainly in white, on the terroirs of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and under the Bourgogne Chardonnay appellation. The approach is marked by great precision: soil plowing, moderate treatments, manual harvesting at perfect maturity, always with a spirit of listening to the vintage.

Vinification and Aging

In the cellar, Benoît Ente practices long pressings, meticulous settling, followed by natural fermentation in barrels (little or no new wood). The aging lasts 12 to 18 months with a constant search for energy, finesse, and tension, without embellishment.

Iconic Cuvées

  • Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts: elegant, straight, saline.

  • Puligny-Montrachet La Truffière: fuller, yet always refined.

  • Bourgogne Chardonnay: remarkably balanced, with exceptional value for money.

  • Chassagne-Montrachet: classic and racy, less strict than Puligny.

  • Aligoté: lively and pure, aged with the same care as the crus.

Style and Recognition

The wines of Benoît Ente are distinguished by their verticality, crystalline purity, and aging potential. Highly sought after, produced in small quantities, they stand out as absolute references in white Burgundy, alongside the greatest.
