Domaine Pierre Frick — A pioneer of natural, living wines in Alsace

Based in Pfaffenheim, Domaine Pierre Frick is a benchmark for natural and biodynamic wine in France. Since the 1970s, the Frick family has cultivated their 12 hectares with deep ecological and philosophical commitment — no herbicides, no chemicals, manual harvesting, native yeasts, no additives, and minimal (sometimes zero) sulfites.

Today, Jean-Pierre Frick continues the family’s legacy with a fearless, transparent style. Each wine is a free, authentic expression of its soil, vintage, and natural balance.

Philosophy and winemaking

The entire estate is certified biodynamic. Vineyard work is meticulous, harvests are by hand, fermentations are spontaneous, and aging is long and gentle. Some wines are bottled with zero added sulfur, others with only the bare minimum. Fining and filtration are rare. Each cuvée is seen as a living being, expressing energy, truth, and place.

Wine style

Frick’s wines are alive, vibrant, and radically pure. Riesling is razor-sharp and mineral, Gewurztraminer becomes dry and spicy, Pinot Gris gains salinity and depth, and Pinot Noir shows delicate precision. These are not standard wines — they are soulful, honest, and expressive of a deeper natural order.

Signature cuvées

  • Riesling Grand Cru Steinert – Deep, mineral, and age-worthy.

  • Gewurztraminer “Bihl” – Dry, structured, spicy, far from varietal clichés.

  • Pinot Gris “Rot Murlé” – Saline, dense, and full of energy.

  • Pinot Noir “Strangenberg” – Light-bodied, pure, and expressive.

  • Riesling sans soufre ajouté – A sulfur-free, transparent snapshot of the vintage.

A free, essential voice in natural wine

Pierre Frick is a true reference for those seeking soulful, living Alsace wines. Honest, radical, and grounded in respect for nature, these are wines that speak — and sing — of where they come from.
