Domaine Prieuré Roch — A radical expression of Pinot Noir

Founded in 1988 by Henri-Frédéric Roch — co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti — Domaine Prieuré Roch represents a bold, uncompromising vision of Burgundy. Based in Prémeaux-Prissey, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, the domaine has earned cult status for its energetic, sensual, and deeply expressive wines.

Today it spans nearly 14 hectares of vineyards, farmed biodynamically (though uncertified), with obsessive attention to soil health and vine balance. The estate includes rare monopoles like Clos Goillotte and Clos des Corvées, as well as prized plots in Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Ladoix.

Philosophy and winemaking

Prieuré Roch takes a radical, non-interventionist approach: no destemming, foot-trodden grapes, wild yeasts, and 100% whole-cluster fermentation. No sulfur is used — not during vinification, not at bottling. Aging occurs in old barrels over extended periods, with no racking or manipulation.

The wines are made with a single goal: to remain alive, unfiltered, and full of soul.

Wine style

These are unmistakable wines. Reds are intense, silky, and aromatic, with notes of dark fruit, violets, wild herbs, and spice. On the palate, they are juicy, textured, and vibrant, with a natural energy that sets them apart. The whites, though rarer, are deep, slightly oxidative, and mineral-driven, often saline and gastronomic.

Signature cuvées

Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Clos des Corvées (Monopole) – A powerful, complex Pinot with depth, minerality, and aging potential. A true flagship.

Vosne-Romanée Les Hautes Maizières – Floral, silky, and seductive, with refined tannins and layered aromatics.

Clos Goillotte (Monopole) – A tiny, cult Vosne-Romanée cuvée. Ethereal, sensual, and deeply nuanced.

Ladoix Le Cloud – Vibrant and juicy, with high-toned fruit and freshness. A rare, irresistible wine.
