Powerful elegance, silky opulence, and elegant structure

Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, Château Troplong Mondot spans approximately 44 hectares of clay-gravel and clay-limestone soils. An iconic property under the influence of the Cuvelier family, then Laurent Dassault, the estate is renowned for its sumptuous wines, with velvety tannins, a subtle balance between structure and charm.

Terroir & grape varieties

Plots on well-exposed slopes, mixing clay gravels and clay-limestone slopes, ideal for perfect ripeness. The grape composition combines ≈90% Merlot, ≈5% Cabernet Franc, and a small portion of Cabernet Sauvignon, producing deep and harmonious blends.

Viticulture & winemaking

Sustainable viticulture, manual harvesting, rigorous sorting. Vinification in stainless steel vats, controlled extractions. Aging lasts 18 to 20 months in barrels (≈50% new), enhancing the creamy texture and aromatic complexity (subtle wood aging).

Style & aging

The wine offers a deep black color, aromas of blackberry, plum, cocoa, and spices, accompanied by velvety tannins and a long, refined finish. To be enjoyed after 10 years, it can be kept for 30 to 40 years, evolving towards notes of truffle, undergrowth, and tobacco.

Iconic cuvées

  • Château Troplong Mondot: the flagship cuvée, expressive, fleshy, and full of charm.

  • Mondot, a more accessible but faithful version, from young vines.

  • Troplong Mondot L’Esprit, a rare, fresh, and mineral white (in micro-cuvée).
