A confidential treasure on the banks of the Gironde
Château Clos Saint‑Julien, a wine jewel nestled in the Margaux appellation, bears witness to a discreet and refined heritage. Managed by a family of enthusiasts, the estate has managed to preserve its identity — intimate, elegant, aligned with the spirit of the Cru Bourgeois Supérieur.
Terroir & grape varieties: balance and finesse
The 12 ha vineyard rests on the characteristic Garonne gravel of Margaux, associated with clay pockets. The southwest orientation and well-drained soils ensure consistent maturity. The grape varieties include 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, a classic blend promoting elegance, structure, and complexity.
Sustainable viticulture
Clos Saint‑Julien practices respectful viticulture, including controlled grassing, integrated pest management, and vigor control. Harvesting is manual, with rigorous parcel selection to preserve the healthiest and most expressive grapes.
Vinification & aging
After destemming, each parcel is vinified separately in stainless steel and wooden vats. Fermentation lasts about 3 weeks under controlled temperature, followed by malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aging continues for 14 to 16 months in French oak, with 40% new wood, to bring elegance and aromatic persistence.
Style & flagship cuvées
Clos Saint‑Julien: elegant garnet color, aromas of blackcurrant, violet, light truffle. The palate, fine and tasty, offers silky tannins, racy freshness, and a long subtly toasted finish. A charming and refined Margaux.
Clos Saint‑Julien Rosé: a summer cuvée balanced between fruit (strawberry, raspberry), minerality, and liveliness. Slightly floral, perfect for an aperitif.
