Located in Léognan, at the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Carbonnieux is one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux. Founded in the 13th century by the Benedictine monks of the Sainte-Croix abbey, the estate has endured through the centuries while maintaining its renown. Classified both in red and white in the 1959 Graves classification, it has belonged to the Perrin family since 1956, now represented by Éric and Philibert Perrin, ardent defenders of the pure expression of the terroir.
The vineyard spans 95 hectares, with deep gravel soils mixed with limestone clays, perfectly suited for producing racy red wines and crystalline whites. The red grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, while the white is composed of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
The vineyard is managed with sustainable practices, with a strong focus on biodiversity. Each plot is vinified separately to preserve its identity. The reds are aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels (about 40% new), while the whites benefit from aging on lees with regular stirring, enhancing texture and complexity.
Château Carbonnieux Rouge: a straight, structured wine with a classic framework, featuring notes of black fruits, graphite, and sweet spices.
Château Carbonnieux Blanc: a reference of Pessac-Léognan, with a lively and elegant profile, blending citrus, white flowers, and smoky touches.
